2401 Mall Drive is a renovation of an existing 120,000 sf. Montgomery Ward retail building into a 150,000 sf. Class A Office Building. The entire build-ing was leased to Verizon Wireless. The building has a two-story atrium at the center to provide natural light to interior spaces and a full-service cafeteria.

The City of North Charleston has contracted with the owner CharlesTowne Square Assoc., LLC to purchase CHEC#2 and renovate the building to accommodate the new City Hall. The renovation includes a 2500 sf entrance addition, a 3-story atrium area with skylight, a 180 seat auditorium, a jail and health club plus 125,000 sf of departmental space. The project received a LEED certification.
